Your Instagram Bio…
could argumentatively be one of the most important parts of your Instagram profile. Especially when it comes to attracting new followers and building your brand.
Think of it this way. If you go to a website and the homepage is not organized and provides you with the information you’re looking for, would you stay on that website? Probably not. You’d move on to the next website until you found one that matched what you were looking for.
This means you’re going to want to make sure your Instagram bio has everything it needs to attract the audience you’re after.
Let’s get to it!
In order for you to attract your desired audience you need for them to understand exactly who are and what you are all about.
Want to stand out in a specific niche profession or showcase a particular skill? Perfect, then make sure to highlight one if not all of those within your bio.
Let’s take a look at a few of my favorite brands that I think did an incredible job with their bios.

Clickable links within your Bio.
As of this year, Instagram has added a neat little feature that now allows you to add additional brands, and personal accounts. Check it out!
When you include a “#” or “@” in your bio, it automatically becomes a clickable link that will lead visitors to either a hashtag or another profile. That means you can now use your personal Instagram bio to promote your Instagram business profile!
Oh, and before I forget, you can also add your website link to your bio to guide people from Instagram to where you sell your products and or services. There is an additional tool for those of you who operate ecommerce websites, and I will be providing it to you in another post coming up!
Instagram’s Business Profile Option
If you run a service based business or are a personal brand you can choose to opt-in to using Instagram Business Profile. Once you have switched your Instagram account from personal to business you will be able to include your email address, phone number, and physical address on your profile without having to use the character spaces available in your bio. If you chose to go with a business profile, visitors will then be able to contact you directly via phone or email. Pretty cool right?
Instagram Stories and Highlights
One of the best features to ever hit Instagram (in my opinion) is definitely Instagram Stories and Highlights. This cool feature allows you to place permanent stories on your account and highlights moments you believe make up exactly who you are and what you do.
You can find the stories highlights you’ve made directly underneath your bio, and people can play them anytime they visit your profile! This is literally one of the best ways to show the best parts of you and your brand to your audience.
Why should you use Instagram Stories and Highlights?
For starters, Instagram Story Highlights gives you the ability to show more than you ever could in just a few sentences. It allows the brand to share more information and provide more value with people who visit your profile than your bio ever could.
To sum things up, your Instagram bio and the features that come with it are extremely important in establishing your brand, attracting your ideal audience, and increasing sales. Plus, with all the tools provided by Instagram and third-party apps, there is no better time to revisit your bio, make sure everything is on point, and to make a killer first impression.
